7/23/10: Mauricio Salguero gave an excellent performance of my composition "10 to the Power of Negative 33" and Jorge Sosa's work "Refraction I" at the International Clarinet Association Conference in Austin, TX yesterday. While the quality of performances at the festival have been extremely good, I have been dispointed by the repetroire, especially the new music pieces. But I have heard some excellent pieces, such as "Gerrymander" by Russell Pinkston, "We Speak Etruscan" by Lee Hyla, and works for clarinet and electronics by composers Sam Hamm, Jr. and Chapman Welch.
